Pierre's Hole 50/100 Endurance Mountain Bike Race at Grand Targhee Resort, August 4, 2012
The Pierre's Hole 100. Pierre's Hole, a mountain valley tucked up to the WY border on the western side of the Tetons, was once known as the strategic center for fur trade in the Northern Rockies. Today it is known as the strategic gathering place to ski unfathomable deep powder and ride some of the best unknown single track in the nation. On August 4th, 2012 Pierre's Hole 100 will provide this pleasure to the fortunate souls that have entered this epic race (journey). The race course is situated under the Le Tres Tetons, or the three Tetons (Grand, Middle, and South Teton); with single track loops at Grand Targhee Resort (GTR), the descending (Mill Creek) and the ascending of Teton Canyon via drainages wrapped with single track. The views are breathtaking as you will be racing under these magnificent peaks, albeit you may not see much of them while your HR reaches VO2 while climbing out of Teton Canyon.
Staging for the race is from the Grand Targhee Resort, where there is ample lodging and necessary ammenities available for racers. The Pierre's Hole 100 consists of a 25-mile loop, each lap features over 4600 feet of climbing on mostly single and doubletrack trails. Racers may register for the 50 miler (2 laps) or the 100 miler (4 laps). Only the 100 mile race is part of the NUE series. The village at GTR will be full of pre and post party events, including a band after the awards.
The 2012 Rendezvous for the Battle of Pierre's Hole 100 will take place on August 4, 2012. Registration will go live for the first 325 racers on Friday Feburary 3rd at 10:00am MST. Stay tuned here for detials.
